Our Beliefs

God

God is Spirit, the loving source of all that is. God is the one power, all good, everywhere present, all wisdom. God is divine energy, continually creating, expressing and sustaining all creation. In God, we live and move and have our being. We speak of God as Life, Light, Love, Substance, Principle, Law and Universal Mind.

Jesus

We believe that Jesus expressed his divine potential and sought to show humankind how to express ours as well. In Unity, we use the term Christ to mean the divinity in humankind. Jesus is the great example of the Christ in expression.

The Nature of Humankind

We are each individual, eternal expressions of God. Our purpose is to express our divine potential as realized and demonstrated by Jesus and other master teachers. The more we awaken to our divine nature, the more fully God expresses in and through our lives.

Five Basic Principles of Unity

1. God is absolute good, everywhere equally present. There is only one Power, one Presence, God.

  • God is omnipotence- all power. God is omniscience- all wisdom. God is omnipresent- there is no place that God is not.

2. Human beings have a spark of divinity within them, the Christ spirit within. Their very essence is of God, and therefore they are also inherently good.

  • Jesus is our great example, our way-shower. We are expressions of the divine in human form, consciously and willingly aligned with our Divinity.

3. Through the Law of Mind Action I change my experience of life by changing my thoughts and attitudes.

  • Our thoughts, feelings and beliefs have the power to create our reality.

4. Prayer is creative thinking which heightens our awareness of God and brings forth wisdom, healing, prosperity and everything good.

  • Affirmative prayer is the activity that allows us to know our Oneness with God and all of creation.

5. Knowing and understanding the laws of life, also called Truth, are not enough. A person must also live the Truth that he or she knows.

  • Living the Truth means that we do the work necessary to remain conscious and aware of our Oneness, that we recognize our Divinity and act in ways which express our Divinity.
